SUMMARY:Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women With Opioid Use Disorder & Their Infants
DESCRIPTION:Register \nDescription:Sponsored by the DC Department of Behavioral Health in collaboration with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)\, this two-day (2) virtual training event is designed to help physicians and other healthcare and behavioral professionals who care for or support pregnant and parenting women with opioid use disorder make clinically appropriate and individualized treatment decisions that will promote the best possible outcomes for both mothers and their infants. The information covered in this course is based on SAMHSA’s Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Opioid Use Disorder and Their Infants. \nParticipants will be emailed a link to join the Zoom sessions approximately 1-2 days prior to the training. \n \nSpeakers: Hendrée Jones\, PhD\, Caitlin Martin\, MD\, MPH\, & Essence Hairston\, MSW\, LCSWA\, LCAS\, CS \n \n  \n  \n  \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the end of this training participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize the historical context of past response to substance use to identify ways to change our current practices and policies to promote improved health and equitable access and outcomes.\nRecognize the importance of treating opioid use disorder in pregnancy for both the parent and infant.\nIdentify ways practitioners can put into place the learning and measures needed to ensure equitable access and outcomes for all people who are pregnant and parenting\, including those with substance use disorders.\nPrepare and execute appropriate treatment plans for opioid use disorder in the parent and fetus\, as well as for neonatal abstinence syndrome in the infant during peripartum and postpartum period.\nCultivate a conversation about what is going on in your area to enhance equity\, what partnerships can be developed\, what changes may be needed\, and how can this happen.\n\nContent Level: Moderate \nTarget Audience: Clinicians \nCourse Interaction & System Requirements: This live webinar is fully interactive.
